Pure Wax as the Foundation of Safe Comb

The quality and purity of the raw material is crucial for foundation sheets. The foundation is manufactured using traditional and proven methods, in which the wax is carefully cleaned and disinfected. This reduces the risk of introducing unwanted microorganisms into the colony and provides a reliable foundation for comb renewal.

Wax Bloom is a Natural Sign of Pure Wax

During storage, especially in cooler environments, a lighter coating (patina) may appear on the surface of the foundation sheets, known as wax bloom. This is not mold or a defect – it is a common manifestation of pure beeswax. It does not affect the functionality of the foundation or the bees' willingness to build. If the patina bothers you visually, you can easily remove it with brief heating (e.g., with a hair dryer) or brief exposure to sunlight.

Practical Tip for Straight Comb Building

For the smoothest construction, we recommend placing the foundation sheet in the frame close to the top bar. Bees usually more readily complete the bottom gap than the top one, which will support even comb building. Leave similarly sized gaps on the sides.
