Cold-Pressed Beeswax Foundation 420 × 135 mm (Dadant US Honig)

Choose quality foundation made from pure Czech beeswax that respects the natural needs of bee colonies and the demands of modern beekeeping. The foundations are manufactured using traditional cold-pressing technology from carefully sourced beeswax originating exclusively from the Czech Republic. The dimension 420 × 135 mm is designed primarily for the Dadant US Honig (159) frame size, but dimensionally also fits the shallow supers of the Langstroth system. In one kilogram you will receive approximately 17 precisely manufactured pieces with identical cell profile and consistent quality.

Flexible Foundation for Easy Wiring

Cold-rolling technology preserves the wax's natural flexibility. Therefore, the foundations do not break or crack even when working in cooler weather, which you will appreciate especially when wiring into frames. Thanks to higher elasticity, handling is faster and with minimal material loss.

In practice, the foundation is usually pressed against the top bar of the frame. Bees then easily build out the bottom part and a uniform gap of approximately 1–2 mm remains on the sides. This procedure supports straight and symmetrical comb construction, which is the foundation for quality combs and long-term colony stability.

Safe Wax Under Veterinary Supervision

Bee health is crucial for every responsible beekeeper. Each batch of wax therefore undergoes sterilization at 117 °C for 60 minutes, which ensures reliable elimination of pathogenic germs including American foulbrood spores. Production takes place under the supervision of veterinary authorities.

Wax purification is carried out exclusively by physical means – filtration and sedimentation, without the use of acids and chemical additives. Foundations are regularly analyzed at VŠCHT using the FTIR method, which confirms the absence of paraffin and other substitutes. We will gladly provide you with current laboratory reports upon request.

Wax Bloom is a Sign of Authenticity

When stored in a cooler environment, a light coating called wax bloom may appear on the surface. This is not mold, but a natural phenomenon typical of pure beeswax – paraffin does not create this effect. You can easily remove the patina by brief heating (for example with a hair dryer or in the sun). This phenomenon has no effect on the quality of the foundation or its acceptance by bees.
