Digital Refractometer
for easy and accurate measurement of water content in honey. The device works on optical
the properties of honey and its refractive index, which varies with water content. Digital
the refractometer is equipped with its own thermometer to measure ambient temperature, which is
used to automatically set thermal compensation. Refractometer measures with
accuracy of 0.2%. If necessary, the instrument can be easily calibrated with
distilled water (the apparatus is supplied with a calibrated). An advantage is easy
manipulation and very accurate measurements that are not burdened with a reading error from
scale. We deliver it in a protective case that can be repeatedly used
impose.
Checking the water content in honey is one of the most important tasks for every beekeeper before extraction. Excessive moisture can cause fermentation and spoil the honey as well as all the work during the season. A digital refractometer gives you a quick and reliable answer without guesswork and without complicated reading from an optical scale against light. You get results within seconds – and with certainty that the honey meets quality requirements.

The device works on the principle of light refraction (refractive index), which changes according to the density and water content in honey. Compared to classic optical refractometers, the uncertainty when reading the "blurred" boundary on the scale is eliminated. The digital refractometer displays a clear numerical reading on a clear LCD display, making measurement fast, convenient, and with minimal room for error.
Main advantages for beekeeping practice:
- High accuracy and stable results: Measurement accuracy is ± 0.2% and fine resolution facilitates checking even with honey on the borderline. The averaging function (Continuous Loop) helps smooth out minor deviations and displays a stable value.
- Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC): Built-in thermometer automatically adjusts the result according to current temperature in the range 0–30°C. Practical when working in the apiary as well as in the honey house, where temperature changes during the day.
- Easy maintenance, hygiene and durability: Stainless steel measuring well and robust construction facilitate cleaning after sticky samples. The sensor part meets IP67 (water and dust resistance), device body IP65 – after measurement, just rinse and dry.
- Multiple measurement modes: Besides honey moisture, it also handles measurement of sugar content (Brix), Baumé degrees and refractive index.
We supply the refractometer in a sturdy protective case with foam padding for safe transport. The package also includes calibration solution (distilled water), pipette for easy sample application and AAA battery. The device is calibrated for immediate use – just drop a honey sample, start measurement and read the value on the display.
