Evaporation system of formic acid - Poland is becoming very much
used and promising in the fight against varroasis. The vaporizers are
simple cheap formic acid applicators.
The universal evaporator with a volume of 120 ml is a practical tool for every beekeeping operation, especially outside the main season. It is primarily intended for protection and disinfection of stored combs and frames, when there is a risk of damage by pests or deterioration during long-term storage. Thanks to its well-designed construction and mechanical evaporation control, it enables targeted application of volatile substances so that protection is effective and well controllable.
Drawn comb is a valuable investment for beekeepers – it saves bees work and accelerates spring development. The evaporator serves to protect stored combs (typically in winter or between honey flows) from pests such as the wax moth. The released vapors spread evenly in an enclosed space and help prevent wax moth larvae from damaging the wax comb. In spring, you will find combs and frames ready for use without unpleasant surprises.
The evaporator body is made of chemically resistant plastic, so it can handle repeated contact even with stronger agents used in the treatment and disinfection of combs (e.g., acetic acid). An important component is the absorption insert (special foam / phenolic material) with a capillary effect, which dispenses the liquid gradually. The evaporation is thus not abrupt, but long-term and uniform, which you will appreciate when storing supers without the need for frequent interventions.
To protect combs in a stack of supers (chimney), proceed as follows:
The advantage of this model is the six-stage evaporation control. With the rotating lid, you can easily adjust the evaporation surface area according to temperature, the size of the treated space, and the required intensity.
| Parameter | Value / Description |
| Reservoir volume | 120 ml |
| Body material | Chemically resistant plastic (PP/PE) |
| Absorption material | Special foam / phenolic material |
| Control | Rotating lid, 6 evaporation intensity levels |
| Dimensions | Compatible with holes in Lyson lids and feeders |
| Use | Reusable |
When working with fillings, always follow safety principles, especially with more concentrated solutions used for disinfection. Use protective gloves, goggles and, depending on the type of substance, also a respirator and work in a well-ventilated area. Before the season, check the cleanliness of the absorption insert and the function of the rotary control. After treatment is complete, allow the combs and supers to air out thoroughly so that any residual odors do not affect further operation or honey quality.
