We offer premium foundation from a traditional Czech manufacturer, precisely cut to size 395 × 195 mm for Zander frame size (477 × 220 mm). Made from 100% pure beeswax purchased exclusively in the Czech Republic – you're placing material in the hive that is natural, proven, and free of unwanted additives for the bees.

Cold rolling: flexibility and comfortable handling

The foundation is manufactured using cold rolling technology, which gives it higher flexibility and durability during work. Compared to cast foundation, it stretches better into frames and is less prone to cracking even in colder weather. Each piece has uniform embossing and thickness, so you can rely on consistent quality. In a 1 kg package there are usually approximately 14 pieces of solid foundation.

Health safety of the colony comes first

To ensure the wax is safe for bee colonies, production takes place under veterinary supervision. During processing, the wax is sterilized at 117 °C for a minimum of one hour, which reliably destroys pathogenic germs including spores of American foulbrood. Wax purification is carried out through gradual filtration without the use of acids and chemicals – it's a purely natural raw material.

Verified purity and quality control

The purity of the wax is continuously verified by laboratory tests. Foundation is regularly tested at the University of Chemistry and Technology using the FTIR method, which can detect possible paraffin contamination. This gives you assurance that you're buying genuine beeswax that bees readily accept and willingly build on. We'll gladly send you current laboratory analysis results upon request.

Wax bloom: a natural phenomenon, not a defect

A fine light coating may appear on the foundation – so-called wax bloom (patina). This is not a defect, but rather a common manifestation of genuine beeswax when stored in cold conditions. It doesn't affect the functionality of the foundation in any way and bees will draw it out without problems. If you want to restore the original color and shine, simply warm the foundation briefly (e.g., with a hair dryer) or leave it in the sun for a while.

Recommendations for embedding in frames

In practice, foundation is most commonly attached to the top bar and bees naturally build out the bottom part. Thanks to the precise size of 395 × 195 mm, a suitable expansion gap (approximately 1–2 mm) remains on the sides in the Zander frame, which helps limit foundation warping during temperature changes in the hive.
