Heart of the Hive: Smart Monitoring for Healthy and Strong Bee Colonies

Give your bees care based on precise data. Heart of the Hive is a modern monitoring device developed in Slovakia that allows you to observe what is happening inside the hive without unnecessary opening and disturbing the colony. An unobtrusive yet powerful assistant, it provides the beekeeper with important information about the condition of the bees, helps detect risks early, and can contribute to reducing losses and achieving more stable honey yields.

Monitor your colony continuously without intervening in the hive

Frequent hive inspections can stress the bees and disrupt the temperature stability of the brood nest. With Heart of the Hive, you gain an overview of key values without the need to repeatedly disassemble the hive. Simply place the device on the brood frames and monitor current data in the Bee Hive Monitoring app on your phone. The system continuously measures important parameters, evaluates changes, and alerts you to situations that might go unnoticed for a long time during routine inspections.

Early warning of swarming and queen loss

Swarming impulse is among the greatest challenges of the beekeeping season. Heart of the Hive uses sound analysis, as bees change their typical sound patterns before swarming. This can give you up to 21 days for appropriate intervention and help prevent the loss of part of your colony. The device can also recognize the characteristic sounds of a queenless colony after queen loss and alert you in time. Instead of chasing swarms up in trees, you can respond well in advance.

Stable microclimate in the hive without excessive moisture

Humidity in the hive is a subtle but significant risk. It promotes the development of mold, fungi, and bacteria, can deteriorate the quality of stores, and contribute to the spread of diseases. Heart of the Hive monitors humidity and alerts you if it exceeds a safe threshold. Temperature is equally important, as it helps better estimate the current state of the colony. For example, a temperature rise to 20 °C in February and to 30 °C in March may signal that the queen has started laying brood and the colony is entering the active part of the season.

Modern technology right on your phone

The Bee Hive Monitoring app is available free of charge for iPhone, Android, and PC. Pairing the device is simple – just scan the QR code and data will begin transmitting via Bluetooth. If you want to keep track of your bees remotely, the system can be supplemented with a GSM module. With a thickness of only 8 mm, the device does not obstruct anything inside the hive, and the battery lasts approximately an entire season without replacement.
