Leakage pad under the feeder (cap on a 4 liter glass). The pad is made of plastic and is centered wire mesh with a surface finish.
Make feeding and stimulating bee colonies easier with this practical base for seepage feeders. This inconspicuous but very useful accessory is designed to fit precisely on the neck of a standard 4-liter canning jar, which beekeepers often use as a feeder.
The biggest advantage is safer and more comfortable handling. The base has pressed wire mesh with surface treatment in the center, which functions as an effective barrier. When replacing an empty jar with a full one, the mesh limits the mass exodus of bees from the feeding opening, so you can work more calmly and cleanly – often without the need for intensive smoking.
The body of the base is made of strong plastic that withstands repeated use and contact with sugar solution. The shape is adapted so that the base sits properly, stays in place, and helps seal the space around the feeder.
How to attach the base?
Cut a hole in the crown board, cover board, or masonite partition according to the diameter of the base. Attach the base to the opening to create a permanent feeding location for the jar. After the season, we recommend thoroughly washing and disinfecting the base to maintain good hive hygiene and minimize the risk of disease transmission.
