Mellarius Swarm Catcher for removal and capture of swarms

Mellarius Swarm Catcher – Safe and Efficient Bee Swarm Capture Even at Heights

A swarm settled high in a tree canopy can really complicate a beekeeper's day. Capturing it is often time-consuming and working on a ladder makes it unnecessarily risky. The Mellarius Swarm Catcher is a practical tool designed for quick, convenient, and safe collection of a bee swarm directly from the ground. It helps reduce swarm losses, saves time during swarming season, and allows the beekeeper to work more calmly even in challenging terrain.

Durable Design for Reliable Use

The Mellarius Swarm Catcher is equipped with a sturdy metal frame made of high-quality stainless steel, ensuring stability, long service life, and durability with frequent use. The bag is made of strong, densely woven cotton with a high fabric weight. The material withstands contact with branches well while providing bees with sufficient air circulation during short-term transport. The upper snap-shut opening allows you to securely close the swarm inside the bag at just the right moment.

Easy to Use When Capturing a Swarm

Handling the swarm catcher is straightforward, and even a less experienced beekeeper can quickly master it. Using the stainless steel bracket and a sturdy wing bolt, you attach it to a standard pole or telescopic rod. The control rope is used to conveniently close the top section. Once you position the swarm catcher beneath the hanging swarm, simply shake the branch and pull the rope. The bees remain enclosed inside the bag, and you can safely transfer them to a nucleus hive. You then simply untie the bottom tie-off opening and gently shake the swarm out onto the prepared location.

Benefits for Beekeepers

The Mellarius Swarm Catcher is a useful aid for every beekeeper during swarming season. It significantly increases work safety by reducing the need to climb to heights or balance on a ladder. Thanks to its quick closure system, it minimizes the risk of the swarm lifting off and flying away during handling. For greater reach, we recommend purchasing the Mellarius aluminium telescopic pole with a length of up to 6 metres, which is fully compatible with the swarm catcher bracket.
