In the basic version, the device communicates with a mobile phone via Bluetooth with a range of up to 100 meters in open space, or approximately 5 to 50 meters when placed under the hive. If you want data accessible from anywhere without distance limitations, the scale can be expanded with an external GSM module.

The free mobile application for iPhone and Android, as well as the web interface for computers, display new data every 10 minutes. Measured values are stored in clear graphs where you can track long-term development of weight, temperature, and humidity. In case of a connection outage, the scale has internal memory for up to 2 months of measurements, and the cloud archive stores data for up to 5 years. The application also uses a smart algorithm that can estimate the current number of foraging bees outside the hive from the measured values.
