The edges are bevelled and sharpened to handle it well.
Euro Hive Tool – Stainless Steel – Mellarius
A medium-sized stainless steel hive tool for routine work at the hives is among the absolute minimum beekeeping equipment. At one end it has a wide chisel for prying and scraping, at the other end is a prominent hook (so-called J-hook) shaped to fit comfortably in the hand and can be used even in tighter spaces. The hive tool is used for quick separation of hive parts glued together with propolis and wax and facilitates manipulation of supers without unnecessary effort. You will use it both when caring for a single colony and in operations with multiple hives.

When working inside the hive, calm procedure and precise movements are crucial. With this hive tool you work swiftly yet gently – without unnecessary jerking of supers and risk of damaging wood or disturbing the colony. Practical Use from Beekeeping Practice
You will appreciate the large J-hook especially when removing the first frame, when there is the least space in the super. Simply insert the hook under the frame lug and safely lift it with leverage. This reduces the risk of crushing bees and creates space for further manipulation. The stainless steel material also allows quick cleaning – propolis and wax residues can be easily removed after work and the tool can be flame-sterilized with a beekeeping torch for thorough sterilization.
