The reversible (cassette) honey extractor Lyson from the Optima series is a practical choice for beekeepers with a medium-sized number of colonies who are looking for gentle extraction, clean operation, and convenient handling.

Why choose a reversible (cassette) honey extractor

With classic tangential honey extractors, frames need to be manually turned during extraction. The reversible design replaces this step – the cassettes flip themselves according to the direction of basket rotation. In practice, part of the honey is first extracted from the first side, then the basket stops, the cassettes turn, the second side is extracted, and finally the first side is cleaned out. This makes the process smooth, efficient, and gentle on the comb.

What this brings in beekeeping practice:

• Less work, more time: manual frame turning is eliminated, the cycle is handled automatically.

• Gentle on combs: the frame is supported across its entire surface in the cassette, extraction is gradual and stable even with thicker honeys.

• Extraction even off the electrical grid: the option of powering from a 12V car battery is useful at the apiary or at a migratory location.

Control and drive

The honey extractor is equipped with a HE-01U control unit, which offers 2 manual modes (rotation right/left) and 1 automatic program. You can set the automation according to your needs – cycle time, speed, and RPM ramp-up. The 250 W motor is located in the lower part, which contributes to stability while maintaining convenient access from above when loading frames.

Important regarding power supply: The honey extractor can be operated on 230 V or 12 V. For mains power operation, use exclusively the original Lyson transformer. Do not connect standard car battery chargers – this risks damage to the control unit.

Stainless steel construction and frame compatibility

The construction is designed with hygiene and long service life in mind. Both the drum and basket are made of acid-resistant stainless steel (0H18N9). The conical bottom helps honey flow smoothly toward the stainless steel outlet valve, making the extractor easy to drain and clean.

The cassettes measure 44 × 25 cm, with the internal space designed to easily accommodate the popular 39 × 24 frames.

Safety and stability during extraction

Safe operation is ensured by a sensor in the transparent metaplex lid – when lifted, the motor stops immediately. For smooth operation with unevenly filled frames, PVC pads are included in the delivery to help dampen vibrations.
