Proper insulation helps bees maintain heat in the space above the cluster and reduce unnecessary consumption of stores. Thanks to its 2 cm thickness and surface weight of 400 g/m², the insulation effectively reduces heat loss, supporting calmer overwintering and a stronger start to the season.

Practical use and material description

The 50 × 50 cm dimension is suitable for most Langstroth hives. One side shows the coarser structure of natural jute, while the other side consists of softer polyester felt. The insulation is commonly placed above the frames (under the cover/inner cover) according to the hive construction.

Tip for beekeepers: For longer life, we recommend using crown board film under the insulation. This will reduce chewing of the material by bees and excessive propolizing, keeping the insulation cleaner.
