Wax Purity and Health Safety

The quality of raw material is crucial for foundation. These foundations are manufactured using traditional, proven methods with thorough wax cleaning and disinfection. The result is microbiological safety and lower risk of introducing unwanted disease agents into bee colonies.

We additionally verify purity through regular laboratory testing at UCT Prague using FTIR analysis method. This ensures you receive genuine beeswax without paraffin contamination or other additives. Natural Appearance of Foundation: Wax Bloom

During storage, especially in cooler environments, a lighter coating (patina) known as wax bloom may appear on the foundation surface. This is not mold or a defect – on the contrary, it's a common sign of genuine beeswax. It has no effect on the foundation's functionality or the bees' willingness to build. If the patina bothers you aesthetically, it can be easily removed with brief heating (hair dryer, warm air) or short exposure to sunlight.

Tip for Faster Comb Building

For uniform building, we recommend positioning the foundation in the frame as close as possible to the top bar. Bees typically build down more readily than up, so this will support smooth comb construction. Leave approximately equal gaps on the sides.
