Pure Wax and Health Safety for the Colony

The quality of raw material is crucial for foundation. The foundation is manufactured using traditional and proven methods, during production the wax is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to ensure microbial safety. This reduces the risk of introducing unwanted disease pathogens into the apiary.

Natural Appearance of Foundation: Wax Bloom

During longer storage, especially in cold conditions, a lighter waxy layer (patina) may appear on the foundation surface, called wax bloom. This is not mold or a defect – it is a natural aesthetic change of genuine beeswax that does not affect the quality or functionality of the foundation and does not deter bees from building. If the bloom bothers you aesthetically, you can easily remove it with warm air (e.g., hair dryer) or brief exposure to sunlight.

Tip for Faster Comb Building

We recommend inserting the foundation into the frame so that it is tight under the top bar. Bees usually find it easier to build down the bottom gap than the top, so this will support even and clean comb construction. Leave the side gaps approximately equal.
