Wax Purity and Health Safety

Every detail matters with foundation – especially the purity of the raw material. The foundation is manufactured using traditional and proven methods, during production the wax is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to ensure microbial safety. This reduces the risk of introducing unwanted disease pathogens into the apiary.

The foundation is regularly tested for possible paraffin contamination in laboratories at the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague. This is an FTIR analysis of waxes. Contact us and we will send you the current analysis results.

Natural Appearance of Foundation: Wax Bloom

During prolonged storage, especially in cold conditions, a lighter waxy layer (patina) may appear on the surface, called wax bloom. This is not mold or a defect – it is a natural aesthetic change typical of genuine beeswax. It does not affect the quality or functionality of the foundation and bees normally accept the construction. If the patina bothers you, you can easily remove it with warm air (e.g., a hair dryer) or brief exposure to sunlight.

Tip for Faster Comb Building

Beekeepers' experience confirms that it is best to place the foundation in the frame so that it is tight against the top bar. Bees find it easier to build down the bottom gap than the top one, which will support smooth and even comb construction. Keep the side gaps approximately equal.
