Sulfur Candle for Fumigation 700 g
Sulfur candle for disinfection by fumigation of hive boxs, drawn combs and other beekeeping equipment including processing areas, storage spaces for food purposes, etc. They are also used for sulfuring wine cellars, pressing rooms, potato storages, and fruit storages. Usage involves lighting them in a specific space, which creates sulfur dioxide that destroys microorganisms. The candle melts while burning, so it must be placed in a non-flammable container to catch the sulfur. One candle is sufficient for fumigating a space of approximately 10-15 m³.
Completely clear the room before sulfuring. Leave the room or space immediately after lighting the candle and close it as tightly as possible. Time period needed for effect: 2-4 hours. After 4 hours, thoroughly ventilate the room.
Burning releases sulfur dioxide, a toxic gas, CAS 7446-09-5.
Sulfur (chemical symbol S, Latin Sulphur) is a non-metallic chemical element of yellow color, relatively abundant in nature. It belongs to the chalcogen group. Sulfur has been known since ancient times and, for example, in ancient China it served as one of the components of gunpowder. Sulfur is still used as a component of various explosives and fireworks, although after the invention of dynamite, the importance of these mixtures has significantly decreased. In the chemical industry, elemental sulfur is primarily used for vulcanization of rubber. The amount of sulfur added to the mixture then determines the hardness of the resulting product. Furthermore, elemental sulfur is the basic raw material for the production of sulfuric acid.
Sulfur is an important component of various fungicides, which are agents that act against the growth of fungi and molds. Sulfuring cellars and barrels for storing wine or beer effectively prevents the multiplication of unwanted molds and microorganisms.
