When a swarm settles high in a tree crown, every minute counts – and working on a ladder can be unnecessarily risky. This canvas swarm catcher is designed precisely for situations when you need to bring down a swarm safely and comfortably directly from the ground, without dangerous climbing and improvisation.

Durable Construction and Simple Operation

The foundation is a sturdy metal frame that maintains the shape of the entrance and facilitates precise positioning under the swarm. The bees are caught in a canvas bag that is sufficiently durable for field work while allowing air circulation. The swarm catcher is ready for hive box to a long pole or handle.

How does the capture work?

You attach the swarm catcher to a handle, lift it under the settled swarm and shake or sweep the bees into the bag. Then simply pull the cord – the upper closing flap immediately shuts, so the bees cannot fly back out during lowering and transport. After transferring to the ground, you'll appreciate the practical bottom: simply untie the lower tie opening above the hive box and shake out the bees without having to awkwardly turn the entire bag upside down.

Why Beekeepers Use It

The biggest advantage is accessibility – with a suitably long (e.g., telescopic) pole you can reach even swarms that would otherwise remain out of reach or whose capture would mean unnecessary risk. The swarm catcher thus helps manage swarming faster, safer, and with less stress for both beekeeper and bees.

Tip: The pole is not included in the package (due to shipping). Thanks to the universal hive box, however, you can use common handles or telescopic painter's poles.
