The gold Twist-Off lid TO 82 RSB steril is a reliable closure for jars containing honey, bee products, and preserved foods. With a diameter of 82 mm, it fits standard jars with a TO 82 thread. The Twist-Off system allows easy closing and opening of the jar. When properly tightened, the lid seals well, protecting the contents from moisture and foreign odors, and helps maintain honey quality during storage, transport, and sale.

Safety Button for Seal Verification

The lid is manufactured in the RSB version, meaning Regular Twist-Off cap with Safety Button. In the center of the lid, there is a circular indent, known as the steril clip, which serves to verify proper vacuum sealing. After canning and cooling, the clip is drawn inward, making it easy to confirm that the jar is properly sealed.

If unwanted pressure develops inside the preserved food later on, the clip pops upward, alerting you to a potential problem with the contents. Additionally, when opening a vacuum-sealed jar, a typical clicking sound can be heard. The RSB S variant has the same application as the RTS S within a temperature range of 100–121 °C, but differs in the shape of the safety indent.

The lids are designed to withstand heat up to 121 °C, making them suitable for professional sterilization in an autoclave. The metal construction with a high-quality inner coating and food-grade ACTEGA plastisol sealing compound helps protect the contents from microorganisms, moisture, and other undesirable influences.

The inner layer is resistant to common food-related substances such as citric acid, vinegar, cooking salt, fats, and oils. For honey, a properly sealed lid limits the penetration of atmospheric moisture into the jar, thereby helping to reduce the risk of unwanted fermentation.

The gold TO 82 lid is suitable for bottling blossom honey, honeydew honey, and creamed honey, as well as honey with additives, dry bee products, or other goods intended for twist-off jars. The elegant gold color has a traditional appearance and complements honey labels and gift packaging of bee products nicely.

In addition to beekeeping use, the lids are also suitable for jams, marmalades, compotes, fruit butters, pickled vegetables, mushrooms, meat, pâtés, soups, and other preserved foods. They are also frequently used for airtight storage of herbs, spices, flour, sugar, or dried foods. For meat products, they are particularly popular in combination with jars featuring a straight inner rim.

The lid is designed for twist-off canning jars with an outer neck diameter of 82 mm. This size is among the most widely used in beekeeping and the food industry and fits, for example, selected jar types such as Bee 730 ml, Faceta 580 ml, or Barrel 420 ml, provided they have the corresponding TO 82 thread.
