Premium Wax Foundation Langstroth 2/3 – Cold Rolled (1 kg)

Give your bee colonies a quality foundation for quick and clean comb construction. Our cold-rolled wax foundation is precisely prepared for Langstroth 2/3 frame size and cut to dimensions 424 × 136 mm. We manufacture them from 100% pure beeswax using a gentle process that ensures bees readily accept and willingly build out the foundation. This saves energy that can be used for colony development and better utilization of nectar flow.

Flexibility that makes the beekeeper's work easier

Durability matters during embedding and regular handling. Thanks to cold rolling, the wax retains its natural structure, the foundation sheets are flexible, less brittle and have less tendency to crack. You'll especially appreciate this during wiring and embedding into frames, where waste is reduced and work goes more smoothly.

Common and proven practice is to attach the foundation to the top bar – leaving space at the bottom that bees naturally build out. Leave side gaps (approximately 1–2 mm) for handling and thermal expansion of the wax. Thanks to precise cutting, the foundation sheets are dimensionally uniform and in a 1 kg package you'll typically find approximately 20–21 pieces.

Colony health comes first: purity and sterilization

Safety in beekeeping is essential. We purchase wax for production exclusively in the Czech Republic and use no chemicals or acids. Cleaning is done mechanically – through gradual filtration.

To minimize the risk of transmitting dangerous diseases (including American foulbrood), the wax undergoes thorough sterilization. Each batch is heated to 117°C for 60 minutes, which reliably reduces the risk of pathogenic spores. Additionally, we regularly test our foundation in VŠCHT laboratories using FTIR method for possible paraffin contamination. You're placing only a natural product without adulteration into the hive. If you'd like, write to us and we'll gladly send current analysis reports.

Natural bloom (wax bloom) is a normal phenomenon

During longer storage or in cooler environments, a fine light coating may appear on the foundation surface – called wax bloom (patina). This is not mold or a defect, but a natural property of genuine beeswax. It doesn't affect functionality or bee acceptance of the foundation in any way. If the bloom bothers you visually, it can be easily removed by brief heating in sunlight or with warm air (e.g., hair dryer).
