Cold-processed pure wax foundation - 424x162 - Langstroth 3/4
Cold-Pressed Beeswax Foundation Sheets Langstroth (424 × 162 mm) – 1 kg
Give your colony a reliable base for building new comb. Our premium foundation sheets for the Langstroth frame size of 424 × 162 mm are especially suitable for shallow supers (Langstroth 2/3, 159). They are made from 100% beeswax sourced from Czech beekeepers, and thanks to cold-pressing (roller-milling) technology, they are flexible, strong, and significantly less prone to cracking than conventional cast foundation sheets – which you will particularly appreciate when working in cooler weather.

Why choose our roller-milled foundation sheets
Healthy comb is the foundation of healthy beekeeping, which is why we place great emphasis on purity and production control. We sterilize the wax at 117 °C for 1 hour, minimizing the risk of transmitting pathogens, including American foulbrood spores. We do not use any chemicals or acids during purification – the wax is processed solely by physical methods (sedimentation and filtration).
Key benefits for beekeepers:
- Verified wax purity: We regularly test our foundation sheets in UCT Prague laboratories (FTIR analysis) for the presence of paraffin. This way, you are placing a genuinely pure beeswax product into your hive.
- Hassle-free handling: Roller-milled foundation sheets are less likely to break, embed easily with wiring, and are quick and convenient to work with.
- Consistent dimensions and uniformity: Production on modern lines ensures identical quality from sheet to sheet. A 1 kg package contains approximately 16 sheets (± 5%).
Recommendations for proper installation into frames
When wiring and embedding, we recommend positioning the foundation sheet against the top bar. Bees naturally build downward and will easily fill any gap at the bottom bar. At the same time, this maintains equal side gaps on both sides (approx. 1–2 mm), allowing the bees to pass through and helping to prevent comb distortion caused by thermal expansion inside the hive.
What is wax bloom (patina)
During prolonged storage or in cooler conditions, a fine whitish coating may appear on the surface of the foundation sheets – known as wax bloom (patina). This is not a defect; on the contrary, it is often a typical sign of genuine beeswax. It has no effect on quality or function. If desired, it can be easily removed by briefly warming the sheets (e.g., with a hair dryer) or by short exposure to sunlight; however, the bees will handle it just fine on their own.
