These wax foundations from a traditional Czech manufacturer are designed for Langstroth frame size measuring 424 × 205 mm. They are made from 100% pure beeswax purchased exclusively in the Czech Republic – ensuring known origin, support for local beekeepers, and material suitable for our conditions.

Cold pressing: more comfortable work when embedding

The production method is crucial for practical use. The foundations are rolled (pressed) cold, making them more flexible and less brittle. They are easier to handle and better for embedding into wired frames even at lower temperatures. Precise pre-pressing also ensures uniform thickness – in a 1 kg package you will typically find approximately 13 pieces.

Sterilization and wax purity without chemicals

Health safety of the material is crucial for foundation. The wax is sterilized at 117°C for 1 hour during production, which helps eliminate pathogens including American foulbrood spores. Cleaning is done through gradual filtration without using acids or other chemicals. The foundations are also regularly tested in VŠCHT laboratories (FTIR analysis) for the presence of paraffin, so you're placing pure natural wax without unwanted additives into the hive.

Recommendations for frame installation and natural wax properties

The 424 × 205 mm size is optimized for Langstroth. In practice, the foundation is often pushed against the top bar – bees will easily build any bottom gap. On the sides, it's advisable to leave equal clearance (approximately 1–2 mm on each side) so the wax can naturally expand without warping.

Appearance notice: During storage, especially in cold conditions, a lighter film may appear on the surface – called wax bloom (patina). This is not mold, but a normal characteristic of genuine beeswax. It doesn't affect function or quality; simply warm the foundation briefly (e.g., in sunlight or warm air) and the color will even out again.
