Compressed Smoker Fuel – Long-Burning Briquette (approx. 300 g)

Make your work in the apiary easier and have a constant source of smoke without constantly refueling and blowing on an extinguishing smoker. The compressed fuel in cylinder form is suitable for beekeepers who want stable heat and longer duration than with regular loose wood shavings.

The briquette is made from compressed wood sawdust into a compact cylinder measuring 15 × 7 cm. Thanks to high compression, it burns more slowly, maintains heat, and the smoker stays operational even during longer hive inspections. In practice, you can use it as a "core" and break off smaller pieces as needed.

Main Benefits for Your Beekeeping Practice

Less refueling: The briquette burns slowly and evenly, so you don't need to constantly refill the smoker.
Cleaner handling: The cylindrical shape stores well and doesn't create mess from scattered material.
Practical quantity: One cylinder weighing approx. 300 g lasts long and can be broken according to current needs.

Usage and Safety Recommendations

Since this is pure compressed sawdust, the smoke may be more intense. Warning: With improper use, pure sawdust can irritate bees. We recommend using the briquette as a heating core and supplementing it with punk wood, herbs, or rotten wood for gentler, "cooler" smoke. Always check that the smoke is not hot.

Comparison with Other Fuel Types – What to Choose for Your Smoker

Every beekeeper has their preferences. Below you'll find a quick overview of the most common alternatives:

Punk wood (touchwood, rotting wood): Proven classic with pleasant aroma, usually calms bees well. However, it has poor ignition and burns out faster. Combined with compressed fuel, it maintains heat well.

Bracket fungus: Smokes long and usually doesn't irritate bees. The disadvantage is more difficult sourcing, poor ignition, and also more challenging safe extinguishing after work.

Egg cartons / cardboard: Easy to light but burns quickly. Additionally, you can't always reliably verify the paper composition and binding agents used.

Corn cobs (centers): When well dried, they burn for a long time. However, they're harder to ignite and usually require quality natural tinder.

Our tip: Avoid chemical fire starters (PEPO, liquid alcohol, etc.). Fumes can contaminate the hive environment and unnecessarily burden the bee colony and bee products.
