Modern way of queen marking. Small, color-coded numbers that are relevant to the year. Each package contains a set of numbers from 1 to 99.
Modern method of queen marking. Small tags with printed numbers in a color scheme corresponding to a specific year. Each package contains a set of numbers from 1 to 100. They are attached to the queen's body using acetone-based paint (Celox, Nicel) or nail polish.
Five colors are used alternately because honey bee queens typically live up to 5 years. Marking the queen bee facilitates identification of her age and finding her in the colony (e.g., for replacement or checking if the queen is in the hive).
We offer queen marking discs in colors: white, yellow, red, green and blue. Each of the above colors is assigned to a specific year, e.g., in years ending with numbers 1 and 6, queens are marked white, in years ending with numbers 2 and 7 yellow, etc.
