Numbered Opalith Discs for Queen Bee Marking
Numbered opalith discs offer a practical and well-organized way of marking queen bees. Each set contains tags numbered from 1 to 100 in a color corresponding to the relevant year. Thanks to the numbered marking, you can easily distinguish individual queens, keep more accurate breeding records, and maintain an overview of their age and origin. The opalith discs can be attached to the queen's thorax using acetone-based paint, such as Celox or Nicel, or with regular nail polish.

Easier Queen Finding in the Colony
A queen bee can live up to five years, and finding her in a strong, fully populated colony can be time-consuming without a visible marking. A colored opalith disc makes it easier to quickly check the queen's age and significantly speeds up locating her during regular hive inspections, queen replacement, or making nucleus colonies. A shorter hive opening time also reduces disturbance and stress to the colony.
International Color Marking System for Queens
An internationally recognized system of five colors, repeating in a five-year cycle, is used for marking queen bees. Available colors include white, yellow, red, green, and blue opalith discs. Based on the color used, the queen's year of birth can be determined at a glance, even if she comes from another beekeeper. The opalith discs are manufactured in Poland and offer good legibility and long durability.
