Universal Ceiling Feeder Ještěd – Plastic (5 l)

Do you need a proven feeder for feeding, stimulation, and summer watering of bee colonies? The Ještěd-type ceiling feeder with a usable volume of 5 liters is among the most commonly used Czech beehive equipment. It is designed for easy handling and provides bees with safe access to feed without unnecessary risk of drowning. The durable plastic construction with well-thought-out details also facilitates maintenance and keeps the hive hygienic.

Click System for Tunnel Hive box – Tunnels Stay in Place and Don't Float

The current version is equipped with a practical click hive box for tunnels (mechanical "hook and loop"). You place the tunnel on the central ridge of the feeder and press it down until it clearly "clicks" – this securely fastens it to the bottom. When pouring syrup, the tunnels don't lift up and the feeder remains stable. No need for weighting down with glass or stones or other improvised fixation. Feeding is faster, cleaner, and more convenient. You can refill syrup according to your habits – with a hose from a pump, from a barrel or tank, or traditionally from a bucket.

Universal Design and Easy Adaptation to Your Hive

The feeder is supplied as an untrimmed semi-finished product with external dimensions of 50 × 50 cm, which is compact and ready for modification. Simply trim the rim with a knife or adjust it with tin snips to match exactly the internal floor plan of your specific hive. When properly trimmed, the feeder fits well, seals better, and reduces drifting and the risk of robbing. It is placed directly above the last super and can be easily covered with a standard hive lid.

The feeder is particularly suitable for these hive types:

- Langstroth and Optimal
- Hive assembly 39×24 (universal)
- Universal hive and BVD 90
- Czechoslovak and Tachov hive
- Various types of thin-walled hives

Safe Feed Access and Cleanliness in the Hive

The bottom of the tray is slightly sloped toward the center, so bees can take up the solution almost completely and no old feed remains in the corners that could become moldy. The inner walls are grooved to provide bees with a secure grip during feeding. For even better adhesion, you can lightly roughen the walls with sandpaper before first use.

You can use the feeder throughout the year:

- For substantial winter feeding (in one apiary visit you can add almost 4 kg of sugar – approx. 3.75 kg).
- For feeding with sugar solution and sugar-honey paste.
- For spring stimulation of bee colonies.
- For safe water supply on hot summer days.

The package includes two types of anti-drowning tunnels. The tunnel with multiple smaller openings is designed for liquid sugar solution, while the tunnel with five large openings is adapted for feeding with thick sugar paste.
