Stainless Steel Queen Excluder Mellarius 420 × 420 mm

Keep your hive organized and simplify honey harvesting. This wire stainless steel queen excluder measuring 420 × 420 mm will help you precisely define the space between the brood chamber and honey super. The excluder is made from quality stainless steel wires that are firmly welded into a robust stainless steel frame. Thanks to this, it is dimensionally stable, does not twist or bend, and with proper handling will last for many years without corrosion or cracking – unlike some plastic variants that need to be replaced more frequently.

Main Benefits for Beekeepers and Bees

The basic role of a queen excluder is to reliably separate the brood chamber from the honey super. The queen remains in the brood boxes and cannot lay eggs in the honey super. For beekeepers, this means cleaner honey combs without brood and easier extraction – the work is faster, clearer, and more hygienic. Precisely calibrated gaps allow worker bees through, but keep the queen (and drones) where she should be.

Metal excluders made from rounded wire are popular among experienced beekeepers for their excellent passability. Smooth stainless steel is gentle on bees – bees do not get caught on it and do not damage their wings as with excluders with sharp edges. The colony thus does not waste energy unnecessarily and hive operation is smoother even during heavy nectar flow.

Tips for Use and Maintenance

For good acceptance of the excluder, we recommend not placing it "tight" directly on the top bars, but installing it so that bee space is maintained and bees can move freely under the excluder. Practice has shown that orienting the wires parallel to the top bars of the frames (not perpendicular) works well – passage is significantly more comfortable for bees. Stainless steel also allows easy maintenance: the excluder can be cleaned mechanically, with hot water, or wax and propolis can be carefully removed by mild flame treatment. This is a quality solution from the German brand Mellarius suitable for everyday beekeeping practice.
